“Our District Is Too Big”: Ningo Paramount Chief Calls for Separate District.

The Paramount Chief of the Ningo Traditional Area, Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XII, has appealed to the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, to help secure a separate district for Ningo before the current government leaves office.
The chief said the Ningo-Prampram District was too large, making it difficult for residents to see and feel the impact of development in their communities. He made the appeal at Ningo Market Square during a ceremony to cut the sod for the Old Ningo–Tsopoli road project, which also featured an event for a nursing training college.
Addressing Mr George, the chief acknowledged the MP’s efforts but said many residents were yet to see the benefits of development in their communities. “It is true that you are doing well, but we do not see it. Only your party members and assembly members can see it,” he said.
Nene Djangmah said the size of the district was one of the reasons residents felt left behind in terms of development. “We are on our knees this afternoon. We appeal to you: our district is too big, so please help us ask the government to divide it. We want Ningo to have a district of its own,” he added.
The chief also compared Ningo-Prampram with Ada and Sege, saying those areas appeared to be developing faster than Ningo-Prampram. He therefore called on the MP to present the concerns of the people of Ningo to the government and help push for the creation of a separate district before the current administration leaves office.
According to the chief, having a district of its own would give Ningo a better chance to address its development needs and ensure that residents see the impact of government projects in their communities.
His appeal comes at a time when the area is seeking greater attention to its development needs. He urged Mr George to help ensure that the call for a separate district receives the necessary attention from the government.
