Abetifi Pastor Condemns Misuse of Social Media Among Christian Youth.

The Abetifi District Pastor of The Apostolic Church, Ghana, Pastor Owusu Asiedu, has charged the district’s youth ministry to cultivate godly virtues that actively transform lives and advance societal development.
Pastor Asiedu delivered the charge while addressing congregants at the Abetifi Central assembly to mark the opening of the 2026 National Youth Week on Monday, October 19, 2026. The weeklong celebration centers on the theme, “Equipping a Generation for Impact.” Addressing the assembly, Pastor Asiedu emphasized that God creates every individual with a distinct divine purpose to instill positive values in others, urging the young believers to grasp this mandate fully so they can fulfill their divine calling and serve as catalysts for national progress.
Detailing the youth’s role within the divine plan, Pastor Asiedu noted that young people must demonstrate God's principles to the broader public by introducing non-believers to virtues that foster civic responsibility and community growth. "Your impact extends far beyond your immediate families. You carry the responsibility of safeguarding the nation, making a meaningful difference, and fostering unity among citizens to guide the public toward serving the true God in this generation."
He reminded the youth that their current character serves as a vital bridge connecting the present generation to the future, stressing that their daily choices will inevitably shape the moral trajectory of tomorrow's leaders. Turning to modern challenges, Pastor Asiedu cautioned the youth about the misuse of modern technology, digital media, and destructive peer influences. He expressed deep concern over the growing trend of social media addiction, noting that many young individuals misapply digital tools far beyond their intended purposes.
He observed that some users increasingly leverage online platforms to elevate personal opinions above biblical teachings, actively discouraging believers from supporting the church and participating in stewardship practices. Pastor Asiedu further cautioned the youth against associating with peers whose corrupt attitudes and questionable lifestyles could compromise their moral integrity and standing in society. He urged young Christians to remain vigilant, discern healthy online content, and align their friendships with principles that uphold public morality and spiritual discipline.
